Studio of the Month: Brawling Bears
Brawling Bears is a professional recording studio in Westchester NY. I engineered, designed and constructed many aspects, including a complex system of analog and digital connections between multiple rooms. Brawling Bears is a completely personalized and fluid recording studio, where artists have the freedom to adapt and change as an album’s unique sound develops. Modern equipment of the highest fidelity (including multiple Lynx Auroras, Lynx Hilos, Genelec 8300 series monitor speakers, RME Babyfaces and MADI FX PCI card, Kemper Profiler Amps, Roland TD50X Modules, and Grace m108 preamps) seamlessly integrate with each other via analog and digital pathways. Two Equitech Model Q power conditioners ensure clean, balanced power reaches dozens of devices cleanly and efficiently. Five individual computers connect and exchange information over a LAN network, and aggregate to form a matrix of sample libraries and virtual instruments. Artists record through bass and guitar amplifiers hundreds of feet away, and control them digitally through local KVM stations. Session players record in spacious rooms enabled with talkback and KVM control. Both producer and musician can enjoy the bevy of creative options.
